| Abiding in Christ authored
by Cynthia Heald is intended to be “A Month Of Devotionals.” But I could
not stop until I finished reading it. Then I started over again. The author
fed me with words of hope, reminded me of the promises of God, and encouraged
me to persevere in trusting God through the difficulties and discouragements
in my life.
Each of the 31 chapters begins with a Bible verse followed by a short essay that applies the verse. The author concludes each chapter with an inspiring quote from another author, a reflection question, and a short prayer. Cynthia Heald reminds the reader: “As we
remember that this life is fleeting---essentially a simulation flight for
our life with God to come---we can be freed from anxiety. This world is
not our final destination! We are strangers and pilgrims; we are just passing
through on our way to our permanent home. This confidence gives us inner
peace and rest despite difficult circumstances.”
