Overflowing with Thankfulness Discussion Guide

1. Colossians 2:6-7 In what ways have you experienced “overflowing with thankfulness” in your Christian life?

 

 

 

 

2. Romans 12:15; Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4; John 16:20 Share experiences that you have had with others rejoicing with or mourning with you. What effect did it have on your relationship? How did it affect your faith? Has anyone had an experience in which you had to rejoice or mourn alone? How did that affect you?

 

 

 

 

3. II Corinthians 8:1-2; 9:11-12 How has difficult times and people affected your ability to rejoice and give thanks to God? If negatively, how did you get past the unhappiness or depression? How does helping other people affect your perspective to rejoice and give thanks?

 

 

 

 

4. Deuteronomy 8:10, 18 How do you think remembering to give God thanks during the good times affects your ability to give him thanks during the hard times?

 

 

 

 

5. Philippians 4:4-13 What makes it possible for us to learn to be content in all circumstances? What is contentment?

 

 

 

 

6. John 15:11; 16:24; Hebrews 12:2-3 What keeps you believing in the Joy Jesus promised when you don’t feel particularly joyful?

 

 

 

7. Philippians 1:3-11 Read and think about all you have to be grateful to God for providing including the people in your life. Offer your prayer of praise, thanksgiving and petition to God for his many blessings
